What is a Bio CNG Plant?

A Bio CNG plant is a facility that takes purified biogas and turns it into Compressed Biogas (CBG). Where does the biogas come from? From a biogas plant that digests organic waste. Cattle dung. Kitchen waste. Agro residue. All of these break down inside a sealed digester. A biogas purification plant then upgrades the raw biogas to 90%+ methane purity. From there, the Bio CNG plant compresses this purified gas to storage-ready pressure, stores it in cascades, and dispenses it to vehicles or industrial users.

Bio CNG plants are the backbone of India's growing CBG distribution network. Every SATAT project, every GOBAR-DHAN scheme setup, and every Bio CNG filling station depends on a Bio CNG plant for clean, compressed gas at the right pressure.

As a bio cng manufacturing plant in India, we supply the equipment and systems that make these plants work.

What is the process of a BIO CNG Plant?

Turning organic waste into vehicle-ready fuel runs through four stages. Each one matters.

Stage 1: Biogas Generation.

It starts with waste. Cattle dung, kitchen leftovers, agro residue. All of this goes into a sealed digester. Bacteria then take over and break it down without oxygen, a process called anaerobic digestion. What comes out is raw biogas, roughly 55% to 65% methane by content.

Stage 2: Purification

Raw biogas isn't ready yet. CO₂ is high. Hydrogen sulfide is present. Moisture too. All three have to go. A purification unit removes them, and methane purity climbs past 90%. Now it's true CBG-grade fuel.

Stage 3: Compression and Storage

The gas needs pressure. A multi-stage compressor raises it to 250 bar. From there, compressed gas moves into CNG cascade storage banks.

Stage 4: Distribution

Cascades feed the end user. Vehicle dispensers, industrial supply lines, or mobile cascades headed to remote daughter stations. We supply every stage of this chain from a single source.

How a Bio CNG Plant Works?

A Bio CNG plant follows a clear step-by-step process to turn purified biogas into usable compressed gas.

Step 1: Purified Biogas Intake

The plant receives purified biogas from a biogas purification unit. Pressure is low or medium. Methane purity is 90% or higher. That is the starting point for compression.

Step 2: Gas Conditioning

The gas passes through filters and dryers. These remove any remaining moisture, particulates, and trace impurities. Clean gas protects the compressor and downstream equipment from damage.

Step 3: Compression

A multi-stage compressor raises the gas pressure to 250 bar or higher. This is the pressure needed for storage in CNG cascades and for vehicle filling.

Step 4: Storage

The compressed gas moves into cascade storage banks. These banks hold the gas at high pressure until it is needed. During off-peak hours, the plant fills the cascades. During peak hours, the cascades release gas to dispensers.

Step 5: Distribution

The gas flows from the cascades to CNG dispensers, industrial supply lines, or mobile cascade trailers. Metering systems track the gas volume at every point.

Step 6: Safety and Control

Pressure regulators, safety valves, and control panels manage the entire process. Every Bio CNG plant must meet PESO safety standards to operate in India.

Key Components of a Bio CNG Plant

Every Bio CNG plant includes these core systems:

Gas Compressor: Raises purified biogas to 250 bar or higher. Multi-stage compressors handle the pressure buildup in steps for safety and efficiency.

Cascade Storage Banks: High-pressure cylinder banks that store compressed Bio CNG between compression and dispensing. We manufacture CNG cascades from 1000 L to 5500 L with Type 1, Type 3, and Type 4 cylinders.

Priority Panel: Controls which cascade bank fills first and which releases gas first. This ensures maximum gas transfer from storage to vehicles.

CNG Dispensers: Metered filling points where vehicles or equipment receive compressed Bio CNG. Our daughter booster stations include 4 dispensers with up to 500 kg/hr throughput.

Gas Conditioning System: Filters, dryers, and scrubbers that clean the gas before compression. Clean gas extends equipment life and meets quality standards.

Control Panel: Monitors pressure, flow, temperature, and safety parameters across the plant. Automatic shut-off protects against over-pressure or leaks.

Safety Systems: Pressure relief valves, emergency shut-off valves, and fire detection systems. Every Bio CNG plant must meet PESO safety standards.

Metering Equipment: Tracks gas volume at intake, storage, and dispensing points. Accurate metering is critical for billing and inventory management.

Applications of Bio CNG Plants

Bio CNG plants serve a wide range of industries and projects across India.

SATAT and GOBAR-DHAN Projects

The Government of India's SATAT initiative encourages entrepreneurs to set up CBG plants and sell compressed biogas to Oil Marketing Companies like IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL. A Bio CNG plant is the compression and dispensing core of every SATAT project. We supply the complete equipment chain.

City Gas Distribution (CGD) Integration

CGD companies blend Bio CNG into their gas distribution networks. As a bio cng plant supplier in India, we support CGD operators with the right plant configuration.

Bio CNG Filling Stations

Every Bio CNG filling station needs a compression and storage system. Our Bio CNG plants provide the backbone for both mother and daughter stations. We supply the plant, the cascades, and the dispensing equipment.

Industrial Fuel Supply

Factories use Bio CNG for furnaces, boilers, kilns, and dryers. A Bio CNG plant on the factory premises ensures steady gas supply at the right pressure without depending on external vendors.

Vehicle Fleet Fuelling

Transport companies, bus depots, and logistics operators set up captive Bio CNG plants to fuel their fleets. On-site fuelling cuts downtime and fuel costs compared to retail Bio CNG station pricing.

Virtual Pipeline Supply

In areas without gas pipelines, a mother station Bio CNG plant fills mobile cascades. Trucks carry these cascades to daughter stations in remote locations. This creates a virtual pipeline that brings Bio CNG to towns and industries far from the gas grid.

Power Generation

Bio CNG plants supply fuel to gas engines and turbines for captive power generation at industrial and commercial sites.

Bio CNG Plant and Bio CNG Cascade: How They Work Together?

A Bio CNG plant and a CNG cascade are two parts of the same system. The plant compresses and conditions the gas. The cascade stores it.

At a mother station, the Bio CNG plant compresses purified biogas. The cascade stores it for dispensing or transport. At a daughter station, mobile cascades deliver the gas. The daughter station dispenses it to vehicles.

We manufacture CNG cascades in 12 sizes from 1000 L to 5500 L. Every cascade uses Type 1, Type 3, or Type 4 composite cylinders at 300 bar. When you buy a Bio CNG plant from us, we can supply the matching cascades too. One supplier. One project. No coordination headaches.
