What is a CNG Cascade?
A CNG Cascade is a group of interconnected high-pressure cylinders – mounted on a skid, trailer, or vehicle – used to store and transport Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) safely between locations. It works like a mobile gas bank: CNG is filled at a source point (a mother station or CBG plant) and delivered to places without pipeline access -daughter stations, industrial units, or remote sites.
Why Do You Need a CNG/CBG Cascade?
CBG/CNG can’t be transported the way liquid fuels are. It has to be:
- Compressed to very high pressure
- Stored in cylinders strong enough to hold that pressure
- Moved without leakage or pressure loss
A CNG Cascade handles all three – letting you supply CNG to any location, even without a pipeline connection.
How Does a CNG Cascade Work?
- High-pressure cylinders are grouped and connected into a single unit.
- The unit is filled with CNG at the source.
- It’s transported by trailer or truck to the destination.
- Gas is discharged into the receiving station’s storage system.
The cylinders are made from high-strength materials engineered to hold gas safely under extreme pressure – even with continuous, repeated use. The working principle of a CNG Cascade is simple yet highly effective. Natural gas is compressed using a compressor and filled into high-pressure cylinders. The cylinders store gas at pressures generally ranging between 200 to 250 Bar. When the gas reaches its destination, it is discharged through specially designed manifolds and control valves.
